The Brother Jonathan Home Page

During a summer storm in 1865, the Brother Jonathan struck an uncharted rock trying to make safe harbor at Crescent City. Of the 244 people on board, only 19 survived. Most of the ship's cargo of gold, camels, china and other items sank with the ship in water over 250 feet deep.

More than a century passed before the wreck was finally located.
